Dipped In Velvet - The Radio Show
The Origin
Dipped in Velvet began as a love letter to timeless jazz; from smoky late-night piano trios to the lush orchestral recordings that shaped generations. Hosted by James Markas, the show was born out of a desire to slow down, listen deeply, and rediscover the warmth of vinyl-era sound. What started as an hour-long community radio program soon evolved into a creative platform celebrating the elegance, experimentation, and emotional richness of jazz across decades.

The Sound
Each episode flows like a velvet thread through time; weaving together classic recordings by Bill Evans, Miles Davis, and John Coltrane with modern artists who carry the torch forward. The show avoids fusion and acid jazz, focusing instead on the intimacy and storytelling that make jazz feel human.

The Community
Beyond the airwaves, Dipped in Velvet continues to build a community of listeners, musicians, and dreamers. The show partners with local artists, record collectors, and venues to host listening sessions, live DJ sets, and cultural gatherings that bring people together through shared rhythm and conversation. It’s more than radio; it’s a movement toward connection, creativity, and care.
